What is Placement?

Placement of your child is essentially the location of your child. When your child is placed with you, you have the right and responsibility to make daily, routine decisions for your child. There are two categories of placement, it can be shared or primary placement. Shared placement means that both parents have at least 25% of the overnights. This is 92 overnights within a year period. Primary placement means one parent has the majority of placement and the other parent has less than 92 overnights. At Lawton & Cates, S.C. we understand that placement is unique to each family and each family needs a unique placement schedule and we work with our clients to find a placement schedule that suits not only the parents, but also the children.
