Lawton & Cates represented a young man who lost his eye when the grease gun he was using malfunctioned causing the metal tip to come off and striking him in the eye. After exhaustive investigation, it was determined that the same manufacturer had the same type of failure in another case. The case settled shortly after.

Lawton & Cates represented a farmer who was injured by faulty farm equipment. He was paralyzed by the accident. The manufacturer claimed the injury was caused by user error. The jury disagreed and awarded $4,500,000.00 in damages.

Lawton & Cates represented a factory worker who got his head crushed in a machine at work. The machine was supposed to have a safety switch that would not allow it to cycle. The switch did not work properly and the man was severely injured. The case settled before trial.
